2023 Henri Boillot Bourgogne Chardonnay
Henri Boillot’s 2023 Clos de la Mouchere, which I offered last week, is arguably one of the finest premier crus being produced today and clearly you all agree because we’re nearly sold out ( just a few bottles left). In my effort to try and find more Clos Mouchere, I had one of my suppliers offer me the domaine's foundational Bourgogne Blanc.
I was thrilled to actually lay into some quantity on this one, as my initial allocation had already come and gone in a flash. This is a wine I buy at every opportunity! As anyone who has tried it will tell you, this wine delivers the classic Boillot magic at a fraction of the cost.
I popped one the other night and it did not
disappoint. The citrus leaning nose offers hints of lemon, lime and white flower in the background. There is a nice richness to the mouth that coats the palate that leads to a linear lip smacking finish. Paired perfectly with a simple dish of grilled chicken and squash.

Ripe and fresh aromas are composed by notes of both white orchard fruit and citrus confit. The sleek, vibrant and delicious middle weight flavors possess unusually good volume for a Bourgogne before concluding in a clean and dry finish. This offers solid quality for the genre.
- Burghound, Outstanding Top Value!
The 2023 Bourgogne Chardonnay is elegant and polished, as all these wines are. Apricot, ripe pear, flowers and light tropical overtones give the 2023 lovely complexity. This beautifully balanced Bourgogne is all charm.

From appellation Bourgogne vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault along with a bit of St-Aubin and Auxey-Duresses. Mid lemon yellow, with a very engaging correctly ripe Burgundian chardonnay bouquet. Sign up for this. There is still some gas present at the moment which enforces the welcome freshness. Drink from 2026-2028. Tasted Oct 2024.
