This is also mildly reduced though the underlying fruit definitely appears ripe. The rich, textured and opulent flavors though retain a reasonably good sense of precision and enough energy to make this a pleasure to drink as there is ample minerality on the agreeably dry and well-balanced finish. This should drink well after only a year or two of bottle age. Burghound 88-90
(from 2.5 hectares of vines planted in the 1980s on the second hill in from the Saône; Lafon purchased this vineyard along with the Uchizy acreage in 2003; half in foudres and half in demi-muids): Bright yellow. Pear, licorice and flowers on the nose, plus a subtle crushed-rock nuance. Lovely elegant, fine-grained wine with good palate presence and ripe acidity to its flavors of sweet pear, peach and citrus fruits; chewy and saline but also smooth and refined, with the strong clay element in the soil contributing to the wine's structure. Lemony acidity keeps the wine light on its feet. Melts into the palate in a sake-like way and finishes with very good length. This Clos ripens very quickly at the end and is now harvested in just one and a half days, noted Gon. Remarkable for its humble appellation. Vinous/Steve Tanzer 89
