I certainly misjudged the 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles from tank last year, as from bottle this would appear to be one of the high points of the Louis Michel portfolio. Mingling notes of fresh peach, yellow apples and dried white flowers with aromas of honeycomb and fresh pastry, it's full-bodied, layered and textural, with a satiny attack that segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate, underpinned by racy acids and concluding with a bright finish. A more floral-inflected nose combines notes of mineral reduction, pear, apple and a touch of petrol. There is good power and punch to the bigger and richer flavors that aren't especially complex today either though again, there is excellent underlying material so I would expect that this will develop better depth with a few years of cellaring.
