This 2016 Sec is characterized by an acidity so noble and pure it brings the array of aromas and flavors into laser-focus, rendering the relatively high residual sugar nearly undetectable. Gleaming and crystalline, this wine is more about precision than weight. Its’ nose boasts of pure white flowers and intense crushed chalk. The renowned “tuffeau”, a limestone soil specific to the Loire Valley and replete in Clos Naudin’s soils, lends a profound and complex note of white truffle. The palate and saline finish hum with intensity, hovering around an entwined core, foretells years of brilliant unravelling. An age-worthy gem for the cellar!
Vinous Media 95 Points - Foreau says they were lucky to have produced a dry wine in 2016 because of frost. Pushing the envelope of dry at 7 grams per liter residual sugar, but balanced by big, thrilling acidity. Expressive and lively, with aromas and flavors of grilled apple and yellow plum, peach, honey and acacia. Notes of smoke flow through to the long, salty finish. There’s a lot of tension here. An absolutely thrilling wine.
