By John Gilman View From the Cellar (Puligny-Montrachet “Combettesâ€- Domaine Leflaive) I am well aware that a ridiculous amount of superlatives have already been utilized to describe the above Leflaive 2010s, but the Combettes in this vintage is clearly the most stunning young example I have ever tasted at the domaine! The nose is deep, complex and supremely elegant, as it soars from the glass in a mélange of lemon blossoms, apple, kaleidoscopic minerality, a hint of anise and a gentle base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, very pure and tightly-wound, with a rock solid core of crystal clear fruit, a brilliant expression of terroir, and stunning cut and grip on the laser-like finish. Usually it is the Pucelles that is the most elegant and complex premier cru in the Leflaive stable, but this year, that award has to go to this magical Combettes. (Drink between 2020-2060) 95+ points
