2021 Henri Magnien Cote de Nuits Village Clos Francois Thurot Monopole

Charles Magnien is thrilled to have a fermage agreement for this half hectare clos of 45 year old vines, named for a mid 18th century soldier and pirate. His first vintage shows a delightful crimson purple colour. The nose is very sensual on the cusp of red and black fruit, while maintaining precision. A fresh crunchy finish. A very interesting debut. This is also aromatically extremely fresh, airy and pretty with its layered nose of red currant, cherry and slightly less evident earth nuances. The succulent, round and utterly delicious medium weight flavors flash good minerality on the linear and youthfully austere but not strict finale.  Burghound 87-89
