John Gilman's View from the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2010 The 2009 Clos St. Jean is a tad riper than the Vergers, but it too has a fine base of minerality to add drive and focus on the backend of the palate. The buxom nose offers up scents of apple, pineapple, a touch of orange peel, impressive minerality and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite broad-shouldered, with plenty of mid-palate amplitude, good acidity and very good focus and balance on the long finish. Â 91+ points.
Burghound Issue 143 (from vines planted in ’90 and ‘94). An attractively fresh and bright nose blends notes of resin, wet stone, flowers and citrus where the latter element can also be found on the quite finely detailedflavors that offer both excellent intensity as well as a lovely sense of underlying tension on the balanced finish. This is well worth considering. 92/2014+
