Like many of the best 2002s, this remains relatively youthful though not so much that it's not quite attractive with its expressive, spicy and distinctly earthy nose that displays only a hint of secondary development. There is excellent power and intensity to the naturally sweet and well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess fine depth on the long and ever-so-slightly austere finish. This is really very good and while it's not at its full peak it is sufficiently close that this could be drunk now with pleasure. In sum, this is one of the better examples of Drouhin Clos de Vougeot in recent memory. Tasted on several occasions in just the last few months with entirely consistent results. Burghound 93 (Oct. 2014)
