Article: Antoine Bouvet

Antoine Bouvet

Antoine Bouvet is a small, family-owned Champagne estate based in Mareuil-sur-Aj in the Grande Vallée de la Marne. The modern domaine was established in the 1970s, when Antoine revitalized the family label originally founded by his grandfather, Guy Bouvet. Today the estate farms approximately 5 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards in Mareuil-sur-Ay, Bisseuil, and Avenay-Val-d'Or, with an emphasis on low yields and sustainable viticulture. Each parcel is worked individually, harvested by hand, and vinified separately. In the cellar, Antoine favors spontaneous fermentations and extended élevage in oak barrels, producing small quantities that reflect the character of each village and vineyard rather than a uniform house style.

Les Monts de la Vallée is a Blanc de Noirs made entirely from Pinot Noir grown in Premier Cru vineyards across Avenay-Val-d'O'r, Bisseuil, and Mareuil-sur-Av. The Base 2023 release is composed of 75% fruit from the 2023 harvest and 25% from 2022. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, and the wine is vinified and matured in French oak barrels before spending extended time on the lees. Bottled with 0 g/L dosage and labeled Extra Brut, it offers a vinous, precise expression of Pinot Noir from the Grande Vallée de la Marne.
