The palate impression is much like that of the Bougros as the big-bodied flavors are dense and muscular while exhibiting excellent power on the only moderately complex if solidly persistent finish.”

View from the Cellar (John Gillman) 93-94+

“Like other examples of Valmur I tasted from the 2017 vintage, the Domaine Fevre bottling was closed down for business at the time of my visit and its ultimate stylistic guise and quality were not all that easy to read. The bouquet is quite reserved out of the blocks, offering up scents of apple, pear, beeswax, chalky soil tones and a whisper of florals in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, closed and rock solid at the core, with excellent length and grip, but not a lot of detail showing in the still very adolescent finish. There are some very good pieces here, but the wine is not showing a lot at the present time. 2025-2065.”

Vinous Media (Neal Martin) 91-93

“The 2017 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru, harvested at less than 20hl/ha due to frost, has a clean and precise apple blossom, orange pith and white chocolate-tinged bouquet that gradually opens with time. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, full of tension and with good bite, leading to a saline finish that gets the taste buds going. Very classic in style, this should age nicely in bottle.”

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 92-94

“The 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur was cropped at less than 20 hectoliters per hectare this year, but it remains quite classic in profile, unfurling in the glass with notes of green orchard fruit, lemon oil and anise, framed by light reduction. On the palate, it's full-bodied, glossy and concentrated, with bright acids, a tight-knit core and a long, mineral finish. It's a promising Valmur.”

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0707/7140/9135/files/fevrevalmurblank_92bf7847-5c9a-43ee-b9dc-f2f30f53512a.jpg?v=1731312835
