Betweenthe uneven flowering and then uneven weather patterns it's not surprisingthat the fruit maturities were uneven as well. We did a lot of leafpulling to improve the ventilation so that the mildew would have troublespreading. When we finally started picking it was very choppy meaning thatwe would pick one day, stop for another and then restart depending onconditions as well as the maturity levels in any given parcel. Howeverinconvenient such an approach might have been it was effective because weobtained excellent maturities as we were able to eliminate the under ripeberries through a careful sorting process. The fruit was clean and ripe aspotential alcohols were in the 12 to 13% range which is plenty for thestyle of wine that we wish to craft. We did our traditional vinificationas there was no reason not to given the very good phenolic maturities. Interms of the style of the wines they remind me of a more concentratedversion of 2000.\" I found the Confuron '12s to be variable with someexcellent wines and others being only average in the context of theirappellations. As to the now in-bottle '11s, revisited below, in most casesthey have performed at or near the top of my original estimated ranges.
