This is a great bottle in the making, as it offers up a very deep and complex nose of black cherries, plums, raw cocoa, beautiful soil tones, a touch of venison, woodsmoke and a fine base of spicy oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with great nascent complexity, ripe, but very fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and balance and a very long, tangy and transparent finish. Wonderful mineral tang lifts the complex aromas of raspberry, cherry, pomegranate, coffee, pepper and spices. Fat, sweet and deep, with the piquant minerality and a peppery element giving lift and energy to the middle palate. Notes of candied strawberry and raspberry are complicated by saline soil tones. Powerfully structured wine with long, bright finishing flavors that saturate the sides of the mouth.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003e93-95 points\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/font\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAn elegant and distinctly cool and restrained nose features a pretty array of floral and stone notes on the wonderfully complex and layered red berry fruit and plum aromas. The same sense of refinement inculcates the intense and highly energetic medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a penetratingly mineral-driven and explosively long finish. The hallmark youthful austerity is present in spades and this enjoys one of the longest finishes of the entire range. In sum, this is most impressive in a decidedly understated fashion.
