Today it comes across as open-knit and incredibly expressive, showing tremendous overall harmony and balance. \u003cb\u003eMy impression is that this exquisite, superb Barolo is destined to take a place among the finest wines Scavino has ever produced.\u003c\/b\u003e It is a great achievement. \u003c\/font\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cfont face=\"Verdana\" size=\"-1\"\u003eWhile Scavino may be most famous for his Barolo Bric del Fiasc, to me \u003cb\u003ehis Riserva from the Rocche dell’Annunziata vineyard is his finest wine. \u003c\/b\u003eWith its typically perfumed nose, silky fruit and fine tannins, it is the most elegant and refined of Scavino’s Barolos. In general the Rocche dell’Annunziata is a wine with a broader drinking window, as is typical of Barolos from La Morra, although judging by the 1990 its early drinkability does not seem to compromise the wine’s aging potential. Knockout nose reminded me of Musigny: cassis, blackberry, minerals and spices. Dense and thick but racy, thanks to superb acidity. Penetrating and superconcentrated, with sappy, vibrant black fruit and mineral flavors. Finishes with broad, extremely fine tannins and terrific length.
