Yields were around 40 hl\/ha and sugars came in between 11.5 to 12.5% with pHs of 3.1 to 3.2, which is quite low. \"We had ripe tannins though and once the malos were complete, the wines came out of their shells\". Lignier expressed a clear preference for 2001 over his 2000s. The wines had not been racked at the time of my visit and will be bottled in February, probably without fining or filtration. Tightly-wound and exhibiting loads of tannin, it has outstanding depth of blackberry, cassis, and blueberry fruit. Medium-bodied and well-balanced, it appears to have the requisite fruit to sustain its firm character.
