The dense inky purple color is accompanied by a floral, blueberry, mineral, and licorice-dominated bouquet. Huge and formidably endowed, but closed, tannic, and backward, it will be at its apogee between 2010-2030. 96 points

Robert Parker, October 1997
Thetwo limited cuvees of Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin arespectacular in both 1994 and 1995, but each will require 10-15 years ofcellaring. Less than 300 cases were made in each vintage. The textbookblend of 70% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 10% Grenache, and 5% Counoise wasutilized in 1989, 1990, and 1994, but in 1995, the Mourvedre componentwas reduced, with the amount of Counoise and Syrah increasedsignificantly. The 1995 reveals more of an aged beef, smoked duck-likecomponent, no doubt because of the higher percentage of Counoise andMuscardin. Although there is less Mourvedre in this cuvee, it stillpossesses the massive richness, opaque purple color, and sweet, earthyfruit that oozes over the palate with extraordinary intensity andpurity. The change in the 1995's blend gives the wine a morespice-driven, animal character, with the distinctive aged beef/Asianspice/smoked duck characteristics more exaggerated. This wine needs12-15 years of cellaring, and should last 40-50 years. It is amodern-day classic. No Hommage cuvee was produced in 1996. 96 points

Wine Spectator, March 2006
Very young, with tightly drawn tannins still covering the black cherry, raspberry and sweet cigar smoke notes. Plenty of guts, with beef bouillon, mesquite, game, hot stones, graphite and spice notes coursing through the finish. Should be very long-lived.--1995 Chteauneuf-du-Pape retrospective.
