A cool and decidedly floral-inflected nose speaks of a spicy blend of both red and dark currant along with plenty of sauvage hints. There is again very good intensity to the bigger-bodied and more muscular medium weight plus flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract on the moderately austere, beautifully long, serious and built-to-age finish. At least some forbearance required. Burghound 91-94 Rich purple here, waiting for the bouquet to emerge, plumper and less stern than Estournelles. A huge wealth of fruit, as yet a little monotone, but will develop further from here. There really is a great deal of stuffing here for a long term future. Tasted: November 2021 Jasper Morris 92-95
Rich but precise, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques exhibits notions of raspberries and plums mingled with rose petals, sweet soil tones and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and perfumed, with lively acids, ripe tannins and a long, saline finish, it's showing beautifully. William Kelley 93
