A gentle dollop of wood sets off the aromas of petrol, rosemary oil and a garigue-like note on the poached pear scented nose. The delicious, intense and slightly more concentrated flavors possess focused power on the solidly long finish. This too could use better depth, but the underlying material appears to be more than up to the task. Burghound 92 Outstanding!
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées Clos de la Truffière is showing especially well, mingling aromas of pear, orange oil, white flowers and toasted bread with hints of smoke and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with terrific cut and chalky structuring extract, it's long and penetrating. William Kelley 94+
