Claude Kolm 91-93

“Richness, depth, some power, nice acidity, rather dense (too dense?) in texture, plenty of acidity. Technical director Frédéric Weber says that Bouchard has two parcels here and they give different wines.” (December, 2018)

Jasper Morris 93

“Two plots, one up one down. Pale primrose colour. The bouquet has an intriguing mix of confexionary from the oak plus some dried herbs from the vineyard. This build very well to the back, a little touch of caramel which will get straightened out before bottling. The final aftertaste has some fresh nectarine, but also some lime blossom notes, so altogether interesting and complex.” (November, 2018)

James Suckling 92

“Some complex and exotic fruit here, from two plots, offering ripe peach aromas, as well as yellow citrus and stones. The palate has a smoothly succulent feel with light honey and white almond-nougat notes, across ripe peaches. Drink in the next six years.” (January, 2019)

Vinous (Neal Martin) 90-92

“The 2017 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru comes from two separate parcels. It shows a little reduction on the nose although it feels intense underneath, citrus and orange pith coming through with aeration. The palate is fresh on the entry with orange peel and light quince notes and more weight on the back end than the Charmes, and delivers good length. Very fine.” (January, 2019)

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 91-93+

“The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is another of the highlights chez Bouchard this year, unfurling in the glass with aromas of green orchard fruit, Meyer lemon and hazelnut cream. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy but incisive, with tangy acids, excellent balance and impressive length. Structurally, the wine is deceptively open, but I suspect it will tense up by the time it's bottled.” (January, 2019)
