Sappy and tactile on the palate, offering a lovely sweet/savory aspect to its flavors of dark fruits, flowers and spices, with an element of saline minerality giving the wine good inner-mouth tension. Quite plush and fine-grained, this wine spreads out and lingers on the finish, with broad, ripe tannins providing solid support. Late hints of flowers and mint contribute sex appeal. The 2016 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode has the most refined and sophisticated bouquet among Pavelot's 2016s: detailed with blackberry, briary, hints of black olive developing with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, a satisfying sense of symmetry with a poised and long, tensile finish. Excellent. This is almost as good as the outstanding 2015 last year.  Neal Martin 91-93
