The 2015 Kirschheck Spätlese is a classic example in the making, as here the filigree of the vintage is very much in evidence. The nose wafts from the glass in a very pure and classy blend of apple, white cherry, beautiful slate undertow, wild yeasts, bee pollen and a topnote of apple blossoms. On the palate the wine is pure, medium-full and shows lovely inner tension, with a fine girdle of acidity, excellent focus and grip and a long, complex finish. The inherent delicacy of the Kirschheck works perfectly with the style of the vintage. 2019-2040+. John Gilman 92
