2005 Clos de la Roche: (from a .27 ha parcel, most of which is young vines of 15 years though there is a parcel approximating 15% of the total with 40 years of age). A deep, brooding and almost taciturn nose of black berry fruit and intense violet notes with spice hints and iron-infused earth merge into sweet, rich and exceptionally fresh big-bodied flavors that are textured and completely saturate the palate with buckets of dry extract while at the same time buffering the ripe but very firm tannins.
