This is ripe yet still quite fresh with its spicy, sexy and wonderfully perfumed black fruit aromas that are trimmed in hints of wood and menthol. The intense, powerful and sappy medium plus weight flavors are shaped by a still solidly firm tannic spine and excellent length. After having gone through a lengthy period of being almost completely shut down, this moderately dense effort has regained the form that it originally displayed from cask and a wine that should continue to reward patience for those fortunate enough to have bottles in their cellars. While it could certainly be enjoyed now, I would advise holding this for at least another 10 years and 15 would not be too many. Note that I have had some bottle variation and my scores have bounced between 93 and 96 points.
