DESCRIPTION
Claude Kolm 90-92
“Sucrosity adds to roundness. Dark fruits, possibly with a bit of caramel. Elegant, especially for a Corton. Light on palate. Doesn’t quite come together today. About14º alcohol. About 25% whole cluster.” (December, 2018)
Jasper Morris 90-93
“The last Cote de Beaune vineyard to be picked. Attractive deep red purple but attractively balanced. Small yields here on the cooler hard limestone rock with little topsoil. This is stylish and balanced, with very fine-grained tannins, elegant both as Corton and by Bouchard standards.” (November, 2018)
James Suckling 92-93
“The aromas are briary and fragrant, offering plenty of red flowers and red berries. The power here is also impressive and there’s a very regal air to the tannins. Long and fine, very transparent and delicate. The exposure and altitude here gives good and slow ripening to high maturity. Try from 2023.” (January, 2019)
Vinous Media (Neal Martin) 92-94
“The 2017 Le Corton Grand Cru comes from 3.60 hectares at 280 meters above sea level, at the top of the slope, and is usually the last picked. It has an elegant, attractive bouquet of brambly red fruit, burned toast, truffle and a touch of smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded, fine tannin, well-judged acidity and a generous, sophisticated, lightly spiced finish. A very refined Le Corton and one of the best crus from Bouchard in 2017.” (October, 2018)
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 88-90
“Aromas of red berries, spices, dried flowers and forest floor introduce the 2017 Corton Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied wine with a satiny attack that segues into a taut, tangy mid-palate and finish that will need time. This is a touch austere, though it will likely reward bottle age.” (January, 2019)
