Producer note: Sylvain Pataille is a consulting enologist to some of the biggest names in the Côte d'Or. With his brother Laurent he now farms 15 ha of vineyards located exclusively in Marsannay. He succinctly noted that 2014 was a "big if agreeable surprise. The fruit was both ripe and clean which permitted me to use relatively high proportions of whole clusters. The wines have good colors, extremely fresh fruit and excellent terroir definition and should drink well both young and old." As the scores and commentaries will confirm the Pataille 2014s offer incredible quality for the modest prices being asked and in particular the Bourgogne "Le Chapître". Don't miss them!
Once again there is a subtle touch of wood framing the fragrantly floral red currant, cherry, earth and sandalwood trimmed nose. There is excellent intensity to the mineral-inflected medium weight flavors that also display a chalky mouth feel on the tight, backward and gorgeously long finish. This is a beautiful combination of power and elegance though note well that this too is very much built-to-age. Burghound 90-93 Top Value
