A fresh, ripe, elegant and quite floral nose evidences hints of green apple, pear and discreet spice aromas that are trimmed in a hint of wood toast. The rich, full-bodied and mouth coating broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent concentration and power before culminating in an explosive and gorgeously persistent finish. This well-muscled yet elegant rendition is perhaps the best vintage that I have seen for this wine since the marvelous 2008 though note well that plenty of patience will be required. (aged entirely in once-used barrels): Pale, bright yellow. Pungent aromas of lemon, pear and stone reminded me a bit of Riesling. Enters the mouth with a captivating restrained sweetness, then refined and energetic in the mid-palate, conveying outstanding intensity and a light touch to its flavors of grapefruit pith, lemon, lime, pear, white pepper, cardamom and bay leaf. A highly nuanced, youthful Corton-Charlemagne with terrific material--and a big success for this cuvée.
